Quotations Note

The large number and variety of quotations are designed to:
give the reader a great variety of ideas and thoughts.
say some things in a better and more authoritative way than the author can.
select representative material to encourage the reader to use the quoted sources for further value.

In a few cases, I have simplified the quote, without changing the meaning, to assist the reader. Sources given with quotes in the text are brief, with details found in the Selected Bibliography.

My most favorite collection, which I urge on everyone, is:

The Book of Positive Quotations. John Cook, Ed. Minneapolis: Fairview Press, 1997, 564 pp.

My other favorite collections, among many, are:

Encarta Book of Quotations. Bill Swainson, Ed. New York: St. Martins Press, 2000, 1319 pp.

The Forbes Book of Business Quotations: 14,173 Thoughts on the Business of Life, Ted Goodman, Ed. New York: Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers, 1997, 992 p.
